A Dramatic Progression
Riverview Medical Center's dramatic development over the past six years has been made possible through the philanthropic support of generous individuals, foundations, corporations, and special friends.
2004 - The "New View" project included the creation of the new Riverview Rehabilitation Center, Booker Radiation Oncology Center, K. Hovnanian Pavilion, home to the Alton A. Hovnanian Emergency Care Center and Critical Care Center, Medical Day Stay Unit, MRI technology, patient unit upgrades, a parking garage, and new entrances, lobbies, landscaping, and signage.
2005 - The CyberKnife at Riverview Medical Center offers a non-invasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors anywhere in the body, including the prostate, lung, brain, spine, liver, pancreas, and kidney.
2005 - The addition of the 64-slice CT scanner's ability to provide high-quality, split-second images allow physicians to see more anatomical detail in a fraction of the time needed for other tests.
2007 - The Booker Outpatient Dialysis Center opened at Riverview Medical Center providing the community with both hemodialysis life support for newly diagnosed patients with kidney failure and maintenance treatments for those patients who have chronic kidney failure.
2008 - The new Pediatric Care Center at Riverview Medical Center offers your child enhanced medical care in an environment specifically designed to meet the unique medical needs of our youngest patients in a timely, anxiety-reducing fashion.
2008 - The New Endovascular Suite (Hybrid OR) gives Riverview's multi-disciplinary Vascular Team the ability to conduct minimally invasive procedures to treat a wide-range of clinical problems including stroke, carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms and other peripheral vascular disorders through procedures such as diagnostic catheterizations, stenting, balloon angioplasty, and embolizations.
2009 - The new Cardiac Catheterization Lab provides a hgih-risk diagnostic catheterization laboratory, which allows our specialty trained cardiologists to treat some of the most difficult cardiac cases with effective technology and expertise. Surgeons at Riverview now perform both primary and elective angioplasty, with the elective angioplasty program being a component of the Johns Hopkins Atlantic C-Port Study.
2009 - The Jane H. Booker Women's Center provides access to top physicians, including a fellowship trained breast imager and the finest obstetricians, gynecologists, and radiologists in the region. Physicians are certified in specialties such as perinatology, reproductive endocrinology, and gynecologic oncology.
The results of the many improvements at Riverview Medical Center have been incredible, with better outcomes for patients and their families. Physicians and nurses are now better able to provide the quality health care our community deserves. In 2010, more than 15,800 inpatients were admitted and 107,858 outpatients flowed through the facility for care.
