To maintain the momentum that Riverview Medical Center has generated in recent years and to address the growing demand for services, it is critical the Medical Center be equipped to respond to the changing needs of the community. While Riverview Medical Center has experienced tremendous growth and resurgence during the past few years, it now has an opportunity to become a surgical innovator for patients and their families, taking care to the next level. We want to ensure residents need not leave the region to benefit from the latest surgical advancements.

With this consistent growth, demand for services, and the continued technological advancements in the delivery of care, Riverview Medical Center needs to embark on a dramatic capital project to continue enhancing patient care. Over the past three years, Riverview Medical Center’s surgical volume has grown by more than 20% and has created a need to explore opportunities to improve and enhance current operations through an acknowledged center for surgical excellence at Riverview Medical Center. The establishment of this high-tech, high-touch Center is the next step in advancing the Medical Center’s mission to provide exceptional care to the community in an environment that is comfortable and close to home.

This project will include:

• Creation of “state-of-the-art” specialty surgical suites – including the addition of two sophisticated operating suites, relocation and renovation of the Same-Day Surgery Suite, and renovations to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.
  
  
• Development of additional private patient healing rooms to enhance surgical continuum of care – affording Riverview an increased opportunity to provide patients and families with a personalized heath care experience in a more comfortable and healing environment. Private patient rooms have been found to reduce incidents of
  infection, speed up healing time, and are becoming the standard for patient care across the nation.
  
  
• Acquisition of leading-edge surgical (not diagnostic) technologies – such as Intraoperative CompT (iCT) will keep Riverview on the leading-edge in the delivery of care and surgical innovation and education, while attracting the best and brightest physicians to the area.
  
  
• Establishment of a conference and education center – providing the necessary resources to attract superior surgeons with niche specialties to attend educational opportunities at the center for surgical excellence at Riverview Medical Center, to include surgical innovation forums, dedicated lectures, seminars, and symposiums.
