"I knew about trans fats way before it became a hot topic," claims Eleanor Dobiles of Brick. "Trans fats were brought up during one of the many Wise & Well seminars I’ve attended over the years. I’ve been going to the seminars for so long that I must be one of its original members."

Eleanor and her husband moved to Brick about 20 years ago, to be near the shore, and after a stroke had left her husband in need of a one-story home. "It was a great move — we both loved it here."

Since her husband passed away, Eleanor has kept busy attending local events with her friends — from school plays to church concerts. She also regularly scans Wise & Well magazine for its nutritional programs. "I’ve been interested in nutrition for years — since my two daughters were young. I used to listen to Dr. Carlton Fredericks on WOR. He is long gone now, but Dr. Fredericks used to talk about a variety of nutritional topics."

Eleanor has made "positive" changes to her diet as a result of the Wise & Well programs. "Wise & Well’s dietitians have taught me the importance of adding calcium to your diet, and how to read nutritional labels. Their programs really cover everything."

Eleanor also likes to attend programs where she can meet and ask questions of Meridian’s physicians — especially the heart doctors. "It’s great that you can meet medical experts in person through Wise & Well. The best thing about Wise & Well is that you always walk out of the programs having learned something new."
