Breast Surgery

Surgical approaches to breast cancer have changed dramatically. Today, surgeons are able to spare more of the healthy tissue and can offer more extensive reconstructive options. When appropriate, lumpectomy techniques are utilized for breast-conservation cancer surgery. However, when a lumpectomy is not an option, our breast surgeons and plastic surgeons work very closely to provide the patient with a most positive cosmetic outcome. In fact, surgeons at Riverview are some of the few nationwide to perform the Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator Flap (DIEP Flap) procedure. This procedure utilizes microsurgical techniques to replace the breast tissue removed at the time of mastectomy with soft, warm, living tissue from a woman’s abdomen without disrupting the abdominal musculature.

Breast surgery procedures include:

  • Augmentation
  • Autologous Augmentation
  • Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator Flap
  • Lift
  • Lumpectomy
  • Mastectomy (Single or Double)
  • Reconstruction
  • Reduction
  • Superior Gluteal Artery Perforator Flap
  • Superficial Inferior Epigastric Artery Flap
  • Tram Flap (Muscle Sparing TRAM Flap)
  • Treatment of Lumpectomy Defects
