The Stroke Program

Fast response to a stroke is not only better, it's imperative. The sooner you receive treatment, the better your chances of recovery. Therefore, it is critical that you get to an emergency room that has a team in place to assess and treat you quickly.

At Riverview Medical Center, our Acute Stroke Team is available to rapidly respond, assess, and treat stroke emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Our specially trained staff coordinate your care every step of the way — from treatment through rehabilitation. And, as a member of the Meridian Health family, we provide the area's most comprehensive range of services for a convenient and seamless recovery process.

Call 911 immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms of stroke:

  • Sudden weakness or numbness, especially on one side of the body.
  • Difficulty speaking or understanding.
  • Sudden vision changes.
  • Dizziness, balance problems, or difficulty walking.
  • Sudden severe headache.
