Unparalleled Technology
Riverview Medical Center houses the most powerful and precise tools in the fight against cancer. The center is home to the CyberKnife Center, an unmatched robotic radiosurgery system designed to deliver high doses of radiation with pinpoint accuracy to treat tumors anywhere in the body, including the brain, spine, lung, liver, pancreas, and prostate. Also available within the center are two TrueBeam linear accelerators offering the most advanced non-invasive radiation treatment available to manage cancers throughout the body.
Comprehensive Care, Personalized
At the Jane H. and John Marshall Booker Cancer Center, patients benefit from the full continuum of cancer care – from diagnosis to treatment to home care. But what truly makes our New Jersey Cancer Center special is our team approach to coordinating all of the stages of a patient’s care, a truly multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care.
The Center offers seamless access to advanced diagnostic options through Riverview’s Diagnostic Imaging Center and the Jane H. Booker Women’s Center, bringing together a clinical team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, nurses, technicians, dieticians, and social workers who work together to ensure patients get what they need, when they need it most.
Risk Assessment
Physicians and their patients are able to assess cancer risk through our Family Risk Assessment Program.
Diagnosis
In coordination with the Jane H. Booker Women’s Center and the Diagnostic Imaging Center at Riverview, patients have access to PET/CT, breast MRI, digital mammography, 64-Slice CT, and stereotactic- and ultrasound-guided biopsies.
Inpatient Care
Our 19-bed inpatient unit is staffed by a caring and dedicated team of nurses who are specially trained in treating cancer. In fact, the unit consistently ranks in the 99th percentile for patient satisfaction.
Medical Oncology
Our New Jersey Cancer Center brings together the region’s finest medical oncologists and the latest chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment options. These medical oncologists work closely with the clinical team of radiation oncologists, surgeons, and clinicians to deliver personalized and effective treatment plans.
Radiation Therapy
The Booker Cancer Center is home to the region’s only CyberKnife® System, one of the newest advances in the delivery of radiation therapy. Our accomplished radiation oncologists also have access to a full arsenal of advanced technology, including IMRT, IGRT, 3D, and brachytherapy.
Surgery
Breast surgeons, colon and rectal surgeons, neurosurgeons, thoracic surgeons, and urologists bring extensive training and expertise to the surgical treatment of cancer. Patients also benefit from the expertise of our plastic surgeons. We offer a number of innovative reconstructive surgeries. For example, Riverview is one of the first hospitals in New Jersey to offer breast cancer patients the DIEP Flap procedure.
Cancer Conference
Patients benefit from the expertise of the multi-disciplinary team at Cancer Conference, where medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, and nurses review patient cases to offer consultation on treatment plans.
Home Care
Patients often require additional care once they have returned home. Through Hackensack Meridian Health at Home, our team is able to connect patients with the help and resources they need, including infusion services, hospice care, and live-in assistance.
Support Groups
The clinical team provides support through a number of site-specific groups, including breast, prostate, bereavement, and a unique Children’s Art Therapy Program.
