Epilepsy Monitoring Program
About Our Epilepsy Monitoring Program
If you're looking for answers, you've come to the right place.
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders in the world, associated with recurrent seizures. It can affect anyone, which is why pinpointing the diagnosis of epilepsy with the greatest accuracy possible is crucial in properly treating this condition.
At Riverview Medical Center, our goal is to provide a precise diagnosis. We offer leading edge technology and specially trained physicians, technicians and nurses, all of whom place great focus on the well being of our patients.
Each person is unique.
Therefore, epilepsy monitoring aims at helping you gain control of your seizures through an enhanced understanding of how the disease works specifically in you. You will undergo around the clock brain monitoring during a hospital stay, which includes an electroencephalogram (EEG) that is synchronized with video monitoring. Plan on staying at the hospital for 3 to 5 days.
During a seizure, the equipment records what is happening. Throughout this process, every effort is made to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Patients are constantly under the care of our extremely well qualified staff, so we can ensure safety while having a seizure.
After your monitoring session, your episodes are evaluated by Riverview’s epilepsy team and the results are shared with your physician. Your doctor will then discuss treatment options and the next steps with you.
