Total Expertise. A Unique Approach to Hip Surgery
The Anterior Hip Approach using the Hana Table is now available at the Total Joint Center at Riverview providing patients living with arthritis a less invasive surgical option for hip replacements.
How it Works
Using the Hana Table, the surgeon is able to position the patient’s hip and leg in traction to gain easier access to the joint. Then, an anterior (front of hip) approach is used, versus a lateral (side) or posterior (back) approach, for more direct access to the hip.
Instead of cutting muscle fibers, the surgeon parts them therefore avoiding permanent muscle damage and complications following surgery.
Why an Anterior Hip Procedure?
This approach is not only unique but, for appropriate candidates, provides a more natural, safe, and better surgical experience for the patient, including:
- Shorter hospital stay
- Faster recovery time, many people will resume daily activities within two weeks
- Minimal chance of dislocation
- Smaller incisions that include less pain and scarring
